The marathon application bibchip has proved to be an especially secure runners identification. More than 1000 events in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland now rely on the bibchip. All data necessary for timing is saved on the electronic start number – bibchip – which the athlete carries on his body while running. As prescribed by the international rules the time is measured on the athletes chest at start and finish. The information on the back of the start number is read without physical contact by an antenna per radio signal. The crucial advantage is the high identification reliability because the timing of the runner definitely takes place at the right moment at the start, in between, and at the finish. The mass start which was previously difficult to time is no challenge anymore – mandigo has already proved it possible to record more than 1.500 runners within one minute several times at marathon events. National championships, one world championship so far, and numerous established events such as the SCC Berlin, the Munich Firmenlauf, the Swiss Alpine Davos, and the Königsforst Marathon rely on the convenient bibchip system. |
